So we make them take unpleasant photos and sleep deprive them. Play loud music and have woman parade infront of them half naked. If this is the shit you guys are coming from and calling torture you don't deserve to be free." That was a comment on another article written on April 23rd. The article was about Hannity volunteering to be waterboarded for charity and how his father serving in the military justifies his blurting out whatever comes to mind and calling it the truth - though let's not forget there was a draft back then and that Hannity Sr. could very well have been the same chicken shit screamer his son turned out to be.Or maybe, and this is a reach, his dad's regretting having fought for a country that would not only allow torture, but in Hannity's and the commenter's case actually condone and even see it as a fun activity at parties and company outings. Interestingly, the person writing the comment claims to have undergone SERE training. Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) was performed by the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency (JPRA). The same agency that, in a memo noted: As noted previously, upwards of 90 percent of interrogations have been successful through the exclusive use of a direct approach, where a degree of rapport is established with the prisoner. Once any means of duress has been purposefully applied to the prisoner, the formerly cooperative relationship can not be reestablished. In addition, the prisoner's level of resolve to resist cooperating with the interrogator will likely be increased as a result of harsh or brutal treatment. As for the liberal douche bags out there it's hard to believe that this kind of liberal douche bag comment wouldn't really piss off the defenders of torture: The unintended consequence of a U.S. policy that provides for the torture of prisoners is that it could be used by our adversaries as justification for the torture of captured U.S. Personnel. Friggin' liberals with their anti- American rhetoric! Who the hell do they think they are to … oh wait, that was a quote, again, from the military's Joint Personnel Recovery Agency. Maybe this is a better quote that clearly shows the liberal demeanor toward torture and how it can't be tolerated: The United States participated actively and effectively in the negotiation of the Convention . It marks a significant step in the development during this century of international measures against torture and other inhuman treatment or punishment. Ratification of the Convention by the United States will clearly express United States opposition to torture, an abhorrent practice unfortunately still prevalent in the world today. The core provisions of the Convention establish a regime for international cooperation in the criminal prosecution of torturers relying on so-called 'universal jurisdiction.' Each State Party is required either to prosecute torturers who are found in its territory or to extradite them to other countries for prosecution. Whoops, nope sorry, that was Ronald Reagan. Let's try another one. I forgot to mention last night that following World War II war crime trials were convened. The Japanese were tried and convicted and hung for war crimes committed against American POWs. Among those charges for which they were convicted was waterboarding, he told reporters at a campaign event. If the United States is in another conflict ... and we have allowed that kind of torture to be inflicted upon people we hold captive, then there is nothing to prevent that enemy from also torturing American prisoners. Oh, damn. Et tu McCain? Yep, it was. I shit you not. Here it is. A full quote. And before you start pulling your hair out and screaming that we're at war now and things have changed. Look back at the time Reagan made that comment and the cold war was in full swing and a suicide bomber blew up an Army barracks in Beirut. |
