So this morning I get up and I'm looking around at the site and I get to the Sightings section and this guy posted this eleven paragraph post.
The section is intended for short bursts of anxiety and shitheadery sightings, Like:
- Man I hate my boss for having not given me a raise because I was having open heart surgery.
- Some d-bag driving 10 miles an hour in a 30 was letting everyone into traffic this morning while there's a line 80 cars behind me.
- This lady comes up to the counter 5 times to get napkins when my boss told me to find out what happened to her. Her daughter had puked all over the table and floor, she had covered it with napkins and then left.
Longer stuff is better served as an article.
I have to admit that I over reacted a little and got just a little heated. I have a tendency to not always think things through and I rattled off this e-mail:
Dear Shithead,
Yep you heard that right (see www.shitheadery.com/wtf for a better understanding of this).
You posted on shitheadery and we thank you as all opinions are considered valid when they are well thought out and argued intelligently. You however have exemplified what this site is trying to combat.
Here are some choices we were faced with this morning:
- Remove your lengthy post from a section dedicated to short posts - we did that.
- Remove and ban you from the site - still under consideration.
- Publish your name and web site in our post bitching about you - that would just be mean.
- Write an article about your behavior being an example of shitheadery - we did that too.
Here are some alternative measures you had available to you:
- Register on the site and submit a post like anyone else.
- Come up with some original content, get published, and we'd link to your site.
- If original content was too difficult, write a few paragraphs summarizing your original article and direct people to it.
But to copy and paste an entire article you wrote (or copied) is bad form and shitheadery at the very least.
Why?
It takes up unnecessary space, it could be an article that people would enjoy, it looks better, and it doesn't show up on a google search as duplicate content - which this was. But mostly it just pisses us off that we somehow didn't make ourselves clear enough. Like maybe write in a really big font or make a video.

See? Pretty shitty huh? I thought I could go on with my day, but about 10 minutes later I got this e-mail:
I'm truly hurt that you called me a shithead...I'm actually devastated, however, I must respond because some, if not all, of your email is...well, to keep up with you...bullshit.
You removed my lengthy post from a section dedicated to short posts. I spent almost an hour trying to find JUST WHERE to actually post a lengthy post but the site is so pathetically laid out, this was almost impossible, so I posted it where I thought I should. I am sorry for posting in the wrong spot, it was not my intention to upset the head shithead.
Remove and ban me from the site? I could understand if I have been a long time member of the site and obviously "knew better" but I'm sure you can see that I joined and posted the post on the same day, so it was obviously a mistake. An email saying, "hey fucktard, you did it wrong" would have been more than enough.
As for the alternative measures -
1. I did register on the site and I thought I submitted a post.
2. The content was 100% original, written by ME.
3. Original content was not too difficult being as I WROTE IT.
I wrote it as a PART of my personal blog and decided to also copy/paste it on your site because I thought it matched what you were looking for. I admit that I pasted it and forget to rework it a bit so that it wouldn't be "out of place" by talking about "my blog", and again, that was a fucktard move on my part but like I said, it was my first post.
I may have over looked it but I didn't see on your site where you only accept EXCLUSIVE articles not to be posted on the net anywhere else.
I did detect the (weak) sarcasm in your email and I understand where you are coming from; however, I kept hitting the WRITE/SUBMIT button and it continued to take me where I posted it so, I figured since you created the link, that must have been where you wanted the post.
Sorry for the "shitheadery" but maybe you should get an actual webmaster to do your site.

Now if that had been a woman responding I would have filed for divorce, left my wife and travelled the country looking for this chick. He had me at "fucktard."
I felt like an ass. This guy sounds intelligent, sarcastic, bitter, and actually, pretty cool. He sounded oddly familiar.
I hope we see him soon and get to read some of his stuff. Needless to say I'm impressed. And, to be honest, he was right. I reworked some of the navigation and the members area and hopefully it'll be a little easier to navigate.
So, and this is a rare occurrence, I stand corrected.
