Robert Redford spoke to Rachel Maddow the other day about Bush’s last minute “screw you” to America. He’s been planning to trash the country with environmental deregulation before he leaves. Here’s the interview.

I was wondering about the general malaise I’ve been feeling for the last eight years. The feeling that we’re not a whole country. That something was amiss and that state of the State of Union didn’t feel the same.
As usual, I had a hard time describing - even identifying exactly what it was that caused the discomfort. Then I found this article.

This is great. Palin pardons a turkey. But only one turkey. The rest get to meet their fate. While she just rambles on .. and on … and on … and on.
Apparently oblivious to what’s going on right behind her. A lot like her speeches. I wonder if her daughter was screwing that kid on the couch while Palin watched Hannity.

Here are just a couple of priceless quotes from yesterday’s meeting with car company executives:
“I think I’m OK where I am,” Mulally (Ford) said when asked if he was willing to cut his own salary. Mulally earned more than $22 million in 2007, according to a Ford regulatory filing earlier this year.
Wagoner (GM) said he’s taken a 50 percent pay cut and has bought GM stock, which he said is now worth very little. He made $15.7 million
Nardelli (Chrysler) said he’d be willing to accept a one dollar salary, like Iaccoca did.
Of course he failed to tell lawmakers that his annual salary at Chrysler was already set at $1 when he became CEO last year. His other compensation is not disclosed. You might remember him as the guy who made a ridiculous amout of money running Home Depot.
This was all during a meeting in which these ass wipes are begging Congress for billions of dollars. A meeting for which they showed up in private jets.
Are we really taking these guys seriously?

Companies fail and we’re here to bail them out. But when do we say, enough!” AIG failed due to shitty management and people running around scooping money into garbage bags and stashing it in under their beds. Bush got on TV and announced that without a bailout from taxpayers civilization would end and babies would die.
Within days of receiving $85 billion, AIG’s top dickheads went on 1/2 million dollar vacation.
A month later they misplaced $54 billion and accounting chalked it up to, “daily operating expenses.” No wonder they failed.
Now they took 500, 000, 000 (half a billion) to pay out employees with what’s called “deferred compensation.” A nice way of saying, “tax-free.”
“This is not taxpayers’ money they are going to run away with,” AIG spokesman, Nicholas Ashooh, said. “We are trying to take the incentive away for people to leave now, until we have time to get the company running right again.
Right. They’re just going to walk away with it. So, they’re being held hostage and blackmailed by the same high priced executives that got them into this mess with a promise of doing a better a job if they get more money up front?
How about, “Get us out of this mess you got us into first, then we’ll talk about giving you money?”

She won’t go away. She’s giving interviews. And the pathetic part of all this, is reporters who were snubbed bevore the election are granting the interviews.
Matt Lauer, Larry King, and Greta van Susteren all interviewed Palin this week. Lauer and van Susteren got conned into interviewing her in her kitchen, while she cooked caribou pate and some other shit. Funny how van Susteren, FOX news (big surprise) thought she had an exclusive. Does FOX understand that an exclusive means you’re the only one. Not that you’re waiting in line behind seven other people waiting to kiss her ring, or ass.
Palin also made a short speech to the RGA, during which she of course tool the time to promote herself, like the self serving cow she that she is. She snapped her spunky lips between sentences and dropped her R’s to make herself more Joe Six-Packy. She even managed to put down Tina Fey.
Maybe she should take a shot at Letterman and Leno too. Hey, maybe Oprah.
Why does the news even continue to cover this idiot? She wouldn’t talk to them before and now they’re giving her more time than I can stand.
As for the Tina Fey comment … making fun of a comedian is never a good idea. The fact that she thinks she can make snotty comments like that and not suffer the repercussions, is more proof of Palin’s amateur standing.

How much money do these guys need? How badly did they manage their finances that they fucked up to the tune of $150 billion? Do they have any idea how many zeros that is? Do they have any idea how much that’s going to cost us, the taxpayer? The same taxpayer they’ve been ripping off to the tune of $150 billion.
Apparently there’s close to $45 billion that’s unaccounted for. They can’t seem to figure out where it went …. oops!
How is this helping homeowners and mortgages? Who’s getting help?
And why aren’t there a lot more pissed off people?
