Horray for the holidays

I opened my e-mail this morning and there in my in box was an e-mail (big surprise) with the subject line “The Holiday Begins Today.” Ironic that the e-mail came from WAMU. The biggest savings and loan in the world. The bank that was seized by the FDIC yesterday and sold.

I’m a little surprised that they’re in trouble since they’re charging me 29% on my credit card. When I called to ask why my interest rate was so high and why it had gone from 11% to 16% to now 29%  (I pay on time, am well below the total limit, and haven’t been late) the answer the phone chimp gave me was, get ready for this, “Because we can.”

I can’t be the only one paying these loan shark rates and if they’re ripping as many people off as I suspect, I have to wonder how they’re in trouble. That was a rhetorical question.

So I want to send a message out to the douchebag who took my call. Happy Holidays.
