And it’s That One
That One is the next one and hopefully the Right One.
The fact that the same country that voted in Bush - Twice - did this … has restored my hope, faith, and belief that we are the best country in the world.
I watched McCain mention Obama and I watched him be met with boos from the crowd. I watched Obama mention McCain and be met with silence.
We watched Obama run a campaign free of personal slams, blatant lies, and underhanded tricks. We watched That One win anyway.
I really wouldn’t have been surprised to see McCain win. I wouldn’t have been surprised because nothing surprises me about this country and the people in it.
I am, however, a bit surprised that this country and the people in it, might have done the right thing. Maybe the people in this country have taken the first step.
Maybe That One isn’t the right one, but maybe he’s the right one, right now.

Now Obama’s a communist too?

The McPalin campaign started out with the terrorist rhetoric and how Obama “Pals around” with them. The unfortunate comment on our country is really that people believe that. They continue to get their opinion and beliefs from commercials - 28% do. Combine that with the people who continue to see FOX as News despite their own executives claims that it’s entertainment and not real news. Then there are the e-mails that clutter mail boxes claiming that democrats will turn us into socialists, take all of our money, and break into our home to perform homosexual acts on our living room floors while we’re trying to watch TV.
Biden’s recent interview on a Florida station where the anchor quotes Karl Marx and makes absurd assertions that Obama and Biden are trying to lead this country into the fiery pit of socialism is just one of the ridiculous claims to come out this last couple of months. Biden’s response was, in a word, priceless. His responses to the other question were proof of his experience and resolve. Answers were succinct, accurate, and intelligent. But that last one. He might as well have said, “are you fucking kidding me?”
And recently Obama made this comment:
“I’m sorry to see my opponent sink so low. Lately, he’s called me a socialist for wanting to roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class. By the end of the week, he’ll be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in Kindergarten.”
All great reactions and proof of intelligence, knowledge, and wit. The same sort of remarks that make people think you’re a intellectual smart ass prick. That’s what worries me. That this kind of retoric will be lost on those that see this sort of intelligence as a threat. What a shame.

McCain: backpeddling or soul searching?
Filed Under Anti-Shitheadery, Political Shitheadery | Leave a Comment
Okay, don’t bash me, I’m not defending the guy and I’m not condoning what his campaign did. I’ve always thought McCain was a decent guy. Maybe not someone I’d want to be President of the United States, but I liked the McCain 2000 model. The one who ran against the current jackass. The McCain 2008 model seems to have sold out and decided that playing dirty was acceptable.
Some things have changed. Whether this come to Jesus moment is a result of some soul searching or a tactic or strategy (I always screw those two up. John? Little help here) is another question. A question we’re probably going to have to wait to have answered in a few days.
But it’s a small relief to see him showing a little bit of scrupulous behavior.
Here’s one clip.
And here’s another even slightly scarier clip.
This one’s a little long, but it is worth it. McCain on MSNBC. Sit back, relax, watch the whole thing.

This is actually how the previous post sounded before I calmed down. I’m thinking I should have stuck with this one.
To my republican friends
Listen up numb nuts,
I’m getting a little tired and frazzled by this Presidential campaign! Presidential? It’s hardly presidential.
I’ve spent the last eight years listening to you defend this administration lie, cheat, swindle, and stick it to us, the Constitution, and our rights. We’ve watched billions of dollars, military lives, and our international reputation get flushed down the shitter for this? Look at us! We’re a pathetic laughing stock to the rest of the world and there’s no real end in site.
I’ve never taken a party stance with you or attacked you personally, but c’mon! Really? These two jackasses are the best you can do and because of some farcical party allegiance, you’re going defend this?
Obama’s a terrorist? A Muslim? Dangerous? Are you kidding me? Do you watch the news? And don’t tell me you watch FOX. FOX is a goddamned travesty. They’re an insult to journalistic ethics and should be forced to put disclaimers on every show they air.
WARNING: This show is purely for entertainment purposes and ridicules the American public. Do not watch this show if you are intellectually impaired as it may cause irreparable damage to your integrity and to your common sense. If you experience an erection lasting more than four hours while watching this program immediately castrate yourself.

Okay, this isn’t just crazy anymore, it’s getting dangerous, and someone from the McCain douche squad needs to do something. Issue a statement, a press release, something. People actually believe that Barack Obama, a guy who’s running for the office of the President of United States of America, is a terrorist?
People have shouted terrorist, uppity negro, kill, bring me his head, commie faggot at both McCain and Plain rallies. Not once did either candidate condemn those statements. In fact in one incident McCain This is the kind of hate mongering that gets people killed.
Let me explain something about hate: People hate Bush and people hate Obama. The type of people who hate Bush get frustrated and suck down tofu smoothies. The type of people who hate Obama carry assault rifles and wear white hoods. These are not reasonable, intelligent people they’re inciting and to let this continue is taking a huge risk.
I’m convinced that if anything were to happen as a result of this we’d see riots like we’ve never seen before.
The McCain campaign is playing with dangerous emotions and only they can put a stop to this.
Even John Weaver, McCain’s former strategist, called it a moral and tactical mistake.
Here’s just a small sample of what’s going on:

Sooner or later people are going to figure out that if all you run is negative attack ads you don’t have much of a vision for the future, or you’re not ready to articulate it.
You know who said that? John McCain said that. He said that in 2000 when he was running against Bush and being accused of having fathered illegitimate black children, among other things. Now, I guess it’s all water under the bridge. A bridge too nowhere.
Now he’s calling his opponent a terrorist and letting people yell “kill” at his rallies? He’s running ads that call Obama dangerous and dishonorable? He’s selling out … God damn it!
I liked the McCain 2000 model. I didn’t like all of what it said and stood for, but I liked the way it said it. I liked the Straight Talk Express, that he called a kid a “little punk,” that he made witty and sarcastic remarks on Letterman and Jon Stewart. That he seemed (an important distinction) like a reasonable guy with a decent sense of humor.
The McCain 2008 is morally bankrupt and vicious. He’s lost the respect he had for the American people. I do believe that he once thought of the people of this country as able to think for themselves and see through the garbage that he himself is now tossing our way. It’s sad to see a man who once had a vision and passion resort to the underhanded tricks we’ve come to expect. It’s sad we weren’t wrong in expecting them.
I had hoped, when it came down to these two, that we’d finally see real conversation. Somehow I was naive enough to believe that there was a chance that we’d be offered plans that could stand on their own; hear debates that covered topics we cared about; and finally have questions answered honestly and directly. Not bullshit that we’d have to wait days until someone deciphered what was really meant and who was telling the truth.
They’re both capable of clean honest campaigns. They’re both experienced, articulate, intelligent guys who obviously made it far enough to be able to do something unbelievable. That we’re being inundated with smears, lies, and blatant attacks laced with slander is causing me physical pain.
I had bigger hopes for this election.

Shucks
Filed Under Political Shitheadery | Leave a Comment
Sarah Palin is treated so unfairly. The press is using “Gotcha” tactics - they know the difference between tactics and strategies. She makes idiotic comments about Obama “palling” around with terrorists and misquotes coffee cups. Starbucks elitist coffee no less. Then insinuates that the press is going to blast her.
Oh, the press is so unfair, mercy me, and shucks. I wish they would stop asking me those “Gotcha” questions.
This is coming from a woman, erm candidate, that won’t answer questions that are asked. Whose entire campaign thus far has been nothing but talking points and whose only tactic (or strategy) is to lie about her opposition.
