And it’s That One

That One is the next one and hopefully the Right One.
The fact that the same country that voted in Bush - Twice - did this … has restored my hope, faith, and belief that we are the best country in the world.
I watched McCain mention Obama and I watched him be met with boos from the crowd. I watched Obama mention McCain and be met with silence.
We watched Obama run a campaign free of personal slams, blatant lies, and underhanded tricks. We watched That One win anyway.
I really wouldn’t have been surprised to see McCain win. I wouldn’t have been surprised because nothing surprises me about this country and the people in it.
I am, however, a bit surprised that this country and the people in it, might have done the right thing. Maybe the people in this country have taken the first step.
Maybe That One isn’t the right one, but maybe he’s the right one, right now.

Whoa, talk about a Maverick

Looking at the predictions of the election (you know, the one That One’s in) it looks like the majority of the pundits are favoring Obama to win by a pretty steep margin. Even Carl Rove weighed in. Obama. Carl Rove maybe a creep, but he’s smart and doesn’t like to be wrong.
Most pundits don’t like to be wrong. Then there’s Fred Barnes, editor of The Weekly Standard.
Here’s his prediction:
Winner: McCain
Electoral College: Obama 252 McCain 286
Senate Seats: 55 Democrats 43 Republicans
House Seats: 255 Democrats 180 Republicans
This guy is either delusional, crazy, or has some inside information and stock in voting machines.
He better hope for an Obama win. The unemployment benefits will be better.

Palin’s last ditch effort
Filed Under Political Shitheadery | Leave a Comment
Election eve, and Palin’s gotta keep it goin’ with her lyin’.
On a stump speech yesterday, sprinkled with references to God and Fox News - they’re both on her side and shrouded in myth.
Then she let loose the big news with, “You would be so surprised to find out what we found out, even in the last couple of days, 11th hour of this campaign, after two years,” Ms. Palin said. “Eleventh hour here, and more and more light though. Thank the Lord, more and more light is being shown on his plans!”
And what is that light? A secret audio recording you say? Just released you say? Kept hidden by liberals you say?
“You’ve got to hear this tape,” Palin said. “You’re gonna hear Obama saying it, talking about bankruptcy there in the coal industry. He’s explaining all of this to the San Francisco Chronicle.”
One man in the crowd shouted “Liberals!”
But what Liberals? Holy shit! San Fransisco liberals!
“And there must be something about San Francisco and he,” she kept going, while people laughed and cheered. And yes, her sentence ended there.
“Because it’s like I heard on Fox News today, it’s like a truth serum, where when he’s there he seems to be more candid. Remember it was there that he talking about, there you go, the bitter clingers. The cling-ons, all of us, I guess, hanging on to religion and guns.”
Fact is, there’s no secret. The interview has been on the San Francisco Chronicle’s Web site since January, when he sat down with the newspaper’s editorial board. And what Obama is saying is exactly what McCain’s been saying all along.
If the coal industry continues to pollute, they’ll be fined, and will eventually go bankrupt. Pretty clear to me.
The weird part about the speech, is that Palin continues to put down parts of the country she’s trying to lead. How is that a winning strategy? How do you alienate parts of the country as part of you plan to guide and lead?
She may as well have said, “You know those faggy liberals out there in San Fran, with their fruity wine and ass raping, hid this tape from the rest of you. They don’t think you’re smart enough to use the inter-tubes and go to their fancy Web sites and listen to the tape.

Now Obama’s a communist too?
Filed Under Political Shitheadery | Leave a Comment
The McPalin campaign started out with the terrorist rhetoric and how Obama “Pals around” with them. The unfortunate comment on our country is really that people believe that. They continue to get their opinion and beliefs from commercials - 28% do. Combine that with the people who continue to see FOX as News despite their own executives claims that it’s entertainment and not real news. Then there are the e-mails that clutter mail boxes claiming that democrats will turn us into socialists, take all of our money, and break into our home to perform homosexual acts on our living room floors while we’re trying to watch TV.
Biden’s recent interview on a Florida station where the anchor quotes Karl Marx and makes absurd assertions that Obama and Biden are trying to lead this country into the fiery pit of socialism is just one of the ridiculous claims to come out this last couple of months. Biden’s response was, in a word, priceless. His responses to the other question were proof of his experience and resolve. Answers were succinct, accurate, and intelligent. But that last one. He might as well have said, “are you fucking kidding me?”
And recently Obama made this comment:
“I’m sorry to see my opponent sink so low. Lately, he’s called me a socialist for wanting to roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class. By the end of the week, he’ll be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in Kindergarten.”
All great reactions and proof of intelligence, knowledge, and wit. The same sort of remarks that make people think you’re a intellectual smart ass prick. That’s what worries me. That this kind of retoric will be lost on those that see this sort of intelligence as a threat. What a shame.

Joe the plumber was on a hell of a ride tonight. He had health care, then he didn’t; he went broke, then he bought a business; his taxes went up, then he wasn’t paying taxes at all.
Joe probably blew his brains out tonight.
Oh there ya go again Joe, being negative.
Joe the plumber, who may or may not be Joe six-pack. That wasn’t discussed last night. But according to McCain, Joe the plumber was going to go out on his own, buy the plumbing company he’s been working for, supposedly all his life, and get completely fucked up the ass by Obama’s higher taxes and health insurance fines. Why? Because Barack Obama is a terrorist and hates small businesses
What McCain forgot to mention was that in order for Joe plumber to see any increase in his taxes he would be making over $250,000. Which would indicate that his business was doing pretty well and he probably had a few employees working for him. A few employees who would need, or at least want, health care. Which Joe could provide and get a 50-percent tax credit.
Now I’m just an average Joe, but it seems to me if Joe the plumber, is making $250, 000 year - that’s him, not his business - that he’s doing pretty well, and may no longer be Joe six-pack. But Joe six-pack will have a job working for Joe the plumber with lower taxes and health insurance - which he’ll need when his liver explodes.
Then McCain tried one more time to let us know that Obama was going to screw us all and drag us into a socialist hell we’ll never recover from.
“[I]f you’re a small business and you … [don’t] adopt the health care plan that Senator Obama mandates, he’s going to fine you. … Now, Senator Obama, I’d like — still like to know what that fine is going to be…” McCain asked. He’s been asking about the fines through two debates now. The fines that Obama’s going to charge to businesses that don’t provide health care.
Here it comes.
Obama looked right into the camera and … “Here’s your fine — zero. I exempt small businesses from the requirement for large businesses that can afford to provide health care to their employees, but are not doing it.”
McCain looked like a shocked guppie. “Zero?”
And as for Joe’s wife, and her “health” as McCain air quoted, getting his arms way up there, seems to be seen, by McCain, as an extreme position, rather than the mainstream position that it is.
What I was hoping to be and what could have been the best question of the night, How is your running mate better than you opponent’s running mate, which gave Obama a wide opening, turned out to be pretty tame.
“That’s really question? C’mon, really? Do I have to answer that? I think the American people have figured that one out on their own,” would have done nicely.

Tonight, the gloves are off. All bets are off. It’s going to get dirty. They’re not going to pull any punches.
Isn’t that what they told us the last time? McCain was supposed to take the gloves off and come out fighting? All I saw was an old guy, who upped his meds, wander around looking for a way back to his chair.
Obama did his usual dodge and at the end of it all, it came down to whether or not they shook hands.
Will McCain bring up Ayers? Will Obama bring up the Keating Five? Will McCain loose his cool and spout off some racial epithet?
Man, one would hope.
Most likely? The same drivel we’ve been hearing for years. Two hours of random crap and the next three days looking through factcheck.org to see who lied, how many times, and about what.
Why doesn’t the moderator have the ability, integrity, and dignity to say, “Whoa, that’s a fucking lie and you’ll need to restate that.”
Maybe if that’d been the case at Olympus High School, Rove would be mowing lawns instead of serving as an idol to douche bags like Schmidt.

Republicans will leave the country
Filed Under Political Shitheadery, Social Shitheadery | 2 Comments
I just had a thought. Remember how people wanted to leave the country when Bush got elected? Actually a lot of people did leave. What if the same thing happens when Obama gets elected? Think of the people we’d get rid of?
If you go by Palin’s approval rating 36% for and 57% against - same as Bush, the most unpopular president in history, we’d rid ourselves of a large part of the country. There goes the welfare budget.
